Cites is the world organization ruling the trade in wildlife products. Species that appears on the Cites appendices may not be traded for commercial use.

Cites I

Appendix I includes species threatened with extinction. Trade in specimens of these species is permitted only in exceptional circumstances. If an animal is listed under Cites I, you need to apply for an import permit into your country, and an export permit from the country where the animal is hunted. Your hunting outfitter will arrange the export permit.

Cites II

Appendix II includes species not necessarily threatened with extinction, but in which trade must be controlled in order to avoid utilization incompatible with their survival. If the animal is listed under cites II, you only need an export permit in the country where the animalĀ is hunted. Your hunting outfitter will arrange it for you.


All primates, Spotted neck otter, Cape clawless otter, Caracal, Serval, African wild cat, Lion, Blue Duiker, Hartman's Zebra, Red Lechwe, All leguans, Elephant ( only in Botswana, RSA, Namibia and Zimbabwe), Hippopotamus, Brown Hyaena, White Rhino ( only RSA), Pangolin, Crocodile, African Python, Crowned crane.

Cites III

This appendix contains species that are protected in at least 1 country, which had asked other CITIES parties for assistance in controlling trade.
